Frozen Banana Dessert Pops
One of my favorite summer desserts that take less than 10 minutes to make!
All you do is drizzle with my clean chocolate sauce recipe, sprinkle with your favorite toppings and store in the freezer. That’s it! Summer isn’t over yet folks and these frozen sweet treats are a must try! Kids will love them. And what’s even better is there are no added sugars or artificial dyes. Just wholesome yummy ingredients. Keep it simple with just a plain chocolate drizzle or dress it up like I did with fresh crushed raspberries, granola, peanut butter and coconut. Whatever you choose to top yours with, please make sure to share on Instagram and tag @staysweetashley ! I love seeing your personal creations and sharing them on my page!
Ingredients:
2 large yellow bananas, peeled and cut in half
2 Tablespoons cacao powder
1 Tablespoon coconut oil melted
2 Tablespoons of pure maple syrup
Optional toppings:
2 Tablespoons of melted peanut butter
10 crushed raspberries with ¼ teaspoon of honey
5 walnuts, pecans or almonds finely chopped
2 Tablespoons granola of your choice
1 teaspoon shredded coconut
Directions:
First, line a plate or small cutting board with parchment paper. Take out four popsicle sticks and set aside. Or you can cut two wooden skewers in half like I did. If using the wooden skewers make sure to drench them with water before cutting in half to avoid splintering. Next, peel each banana and cut right down the middle to create 4 banana halves. Insert one stick into the center of the bottom of each banana half (about 3-4 inches). Set each banana pop on your plate with parchment paper and begin to prepare chocolate coating. Start by combining the cacao powder, melted coconut oil and maple syrup into a small glass jar. Mix thoroughly until a thin chocolatey sauce appears. Using a spoon, gradually drizzle the melted chocolate sauce over each banana half until coated to your desire. If you want to use additional toppings read on, however if you only desire the chocolate covered banana pop, simply store in freezer for at least 30 minutes. Take out and enjoy!
If you’re like me and like a variety of toppings, feel free to sprinkle chopped nuts or granola on top of the chocolate drizzle for that extra crunch. Melt your favorite nut butter to add to the chocolate drizzle for a nutty flavor. Or if you’re a fruit lover you can crush up raspberries and spoon on top of the banana along with some sprinkled coconut. These are my favorite combos but I’d love to hear yours!
